Message from John

 Mission to Micronesia

Lord willing, on Thursday of this week I will be leaving for a two week mission trip to Micronesia. After flying to Los Angeles in the morning I will leave there at 4:45 p.m., fly 2,556 miles and arrive at Honolulu airport at 8:35 p.m. Friday morning I leave at 6:55 a.m. and island hop southwest (stops on Majuro, Marshall Islands, Kwajalein, Marshall Islands, and Kosrae, Federated States of Micronesia) 3,088 miles to Pohnpei arriving on Saturday at 2:20 p.m. I cross the international dateline so I loose a day as well as several hours along the way.
After preaching for them and working with the two congregations on Pohnpei for the week of January 10-15, I will be leaving for Guam on January 16. I will be preaching there on Sunday January 17 and then working with that church the rest of the week. The Pohnpei church has a missionary family working with them and I will be staying in their home. One highlight of this trip is sure to be my reunion with Linter Kinleng who I baptized 29 years ago while he was a student at the University of Guam where I was a campus minister.
Likewise on Guam there is at least one family that I knew well when I worked with that church. It will be a real blessing to be with these dear brothers and sisters. The church on Guam has not had a located preacher for five years and from what they have said have had some real struggles. I hope and pray I can lift them up in the Lord and help them prepare for an influx of Marines being transferred there from Okinawa, Japan.
I need your prayers as I prepare here and as I labor there. I hope this will be the first of many trips there and perhaps some of you can accompany me in the future. God bless you all in my absence and I thank our elders who have encouraged this effort. Also, though these mission trips are not presently in the church budget, several members have contributed individually to them and I am so grateful. If you would like to contribute towards future trips just earmark a check to “Cooper missions” and give it to Chuck Tourney. It would probably not be possible to do these mission works without your help.

Prayer Needs

.

Pray for John Cooper on his planned two-week mission trip to Micronesia and Guam. Pray for the Lord to put a hedge of protection around him as he travels, and guide him to the people who most need to hear the message he brings.  Pray for all TRAVELERS …for safety for all those who will be traveling in the coming weeks of the new year.

Pray for Henry and Oneita Higgins as their family seeks to find the best living arrangement for them.

Pray for Rebecca Parks. Thank the Lord that she has been taken off of bed rest, and that her pregnancy will continue safely until her due date in February. Rebecca asks that we pray for her father, Robert Eli who has terminal emphysema and is currently suffering an infection.

Pray for all of our college-age students and younger children as they begin classes again. Ask God to grant them protection for the remainder of this school year.

Continue to pray for Allen Avery… continue to pray for his healing and strength and for him to be able to get off of the respirator. For Jessica Boone and Timothy Karcher as they continue with rehab from serious injuries. Pray for their families also. Georgia Dorn (and her husband)…continue to pray for healing for her and for comfort for him. Betsy Brown.. continue prayers for the healing of her arm, which had to be rebroken. Jolene Brown , Theresa Bickford,  Mike Bamford and families still need our prayers also.

Those with declining health and their families… please check the Shut-in List that is in the bulletin and pray for these folks and their families and care givers. Also keep TC Chapin, Bill & Genie Deister, & David and Emma Moore in your prayers

Unemployed… there are many who are out of work or have very limited hours so continue to pray for all those who are seeking employment. Pray for them to seek God’s guidance in their search…and for Him to show them where they need to be and to sustain them while they are waiting.

Continue prayers for comfort for all those who have lost loved ones recently - Rettigs, Axtells, Flemings, Stephanie Yeager and others.

THANKSGIVING .. Thank You Heavenly Father for all the answered prayers. We know all good things come from You, and You do hear us and respond. We give you the glory!!   You have shown your care and mercy in so many ways
