Message from John

Valentine’s Day

I know, I know this is not “Valentine’s Day”. I am mentioning it for several reasons. First, as a “heads up” for all the guys who might otherwise have forgotten that next Sunday is February 14 which is “Valentine’s Day.” Guys, you owe me! Second, This is forewarning that next week I will be speaking on “Love”. I really do not know much about “Valentine’s Day” and I won’t be talking about that. I know I have a lot to learn about love and I need your help.
Below are some questions you can help me out with. While Doug is preaching today (just kidding), please answer the questions below. If you get a chance, do fill these questions out and return to me by Wednesday night. Thanks!

1. What does it mean “to fall in love”?
2. How important is “love” to you?
3. Why do people “fall out of love”?
4. How does knowing Jesus affect the way you love?
5. What does “God is love” mean?

Learning to love like Jesus,

John Cooper

Death Notice
Shaun Barrientez’ grandfather passed away in Kansas last week. Shaun is presently in Kansas with his family. Our condolences to the Barrientez family.

A New Heart!
Jenna Fisher, neice of Bobbi June Ball, received a new heart last week. Praise God and please pray that all goes well as she heals and for God to bless her with a long, healthy life. Jenna is 18 years old and is a 2009 graduate of Fruita High School.

ALAHNA MARTIN
Jerry and I arrived safely back in Memphis. Before we left, we took some pictures of Alahna so that you all could see the improvement that she has made in the past few days. It is truly a visual of God’s blessings! She is making great strides (literally) walking with the walker and getting stronger every day. She got the feeding tube out yesterday. The rehab doctor says another couple of weeks in the hospital but she keeps exceeding the goals they set for her so we are hoping she will be released sooner than that. She is talking about Stone now, but not with sadness. She laughs about the funny things she remembers. Please continue to pray for her, Paul, and Vanessa’s healing, both physically and emotionally. -Denise
Thank God for Alahna’s improvement. Continue to pray for the Martin Family. Continue to pray for Bill Antico. These families have suffered great tragedy but with God’s help, there is everlasting hope.

Prayer Needs

.Prayer Requests
Give thanks for new babies in our church family - the newest - Alyandra Yeager and Alison Parks.  Pray for the families of all children in our church family to teach them about the LORD and His truth and love for them

Continue to pray for families who have lost loved ones and are still grieving from loss.

Mike Bamford (has cystic fibrosis and leukemia) - and is in Children's Hospital in Denver with complications.  Pray about his continued treatments and for his healthcare providers to make wise decisions on his behalf.

Allen Avery had to be put back on the ventilator which has been disappointing. They continue to look for a place for Allen to do his rehab.  Pray for the best place, and for wisdom and strength for Janelle and the family.  Praise God for the good report on the CT scan of Allen's brain. He will be able to return to treatments when he is stronger and stable in his breathing.
Pray for Henry and Oneita Higgins.  Henry has breathing problems, and they continue to try to adjust to living at Grand Villa assisted living.

Pray for Kay Wilson's father, Sam Burke (lives in Oklahoma) - whose health is failing.
Pray for all of our elderly members and family who are not able to join us in worship as often as they once were.  Ask the LORD to bless those who go out of their way to visit and bring them to worship as often as possible.

Jessica Boone (16 year old with severe head injury) has been scheduled for her 2nd surgery to replace the other half of her skull on February 22nd. Continue to pray for endurance, cognition, speech, swallowing, balance, coordination and her upcoming surgery.   Jessie has been so so tired.  After so many weeks of not resting well, we are thankful that she is able to rest...and hopefully she will begin to be ready for more strenuous rehab in the coming weeks.

Timothy Karcher sustained serious injuries while proudly serving his country in Iraq.  He had another surgery last Wednesday (3rd) to remove another inch off his right femur and wrap the muscles around to give some soft tissue coverage on the end of the bone.  While back at Fort Hood, Tim was asked to help with a new program on post, called the Resiliency Center.  The goal of this center is to help develop mental, spiritual, and physical strength in our Soldiers prior to trauma such as combat. He hopes to be able to spend one day a week up at Fort Hood, helping to expand this program and helping soldiers prepare for war.  Pray for success of this program.

THANKSGIVING .. Thank You Heavenly Father for all answered prayers. We know all good things come from You, and You do hear us and respond.

ALAHNA MARTIN—Thank God for her continued improvement. She is progressing beyond doctor’s expectations and is using a walker now.

MARIAN TIDWELL—Brother of Bill Tidwell. He underwent 2 open heart surgeries last week in Pensacola, Florida (one was to correct a complication from the first surgery). He is improving rapidly. Please keep him in your prayers for a speedy, complete recovery.

KITT WOODS—Suffering from health issues. Needs prayers for strength.
