Church camp: For those needing to mark their calendars early CCYC is the week of June 20th. We will have our first organizational meeting in March.
Traveling: Today, me, Sheri Heath (my brave adult chaperone) and about a dozen teens are returning from Larkspur, CO and a weekend youth gathering of about 200 Christian teens. Please pray for our safe passage as we drive back over the “hill” this afternoon and that the lessons and truths learned from God’s word will be internalized and manifested in daily discipleship. May His kingdom come and His desires be accomplished on earth, through us, as it is in Heaven.
Jessie Boone update:
16 year old Jessie Boone from Oklahoma City who suffered a traumatic brain injury last March while skiing with her youth group in Glenwood Springs, and to whom many of our body ministered to while she was hospitalized at St. Mary’s, had the right side of her skull replaced this past Monday. When the surgeons removed both sides of her skull to reduce swelling last March they saved the pieces in cold storage until the time when her body and brain were ready for them to be replaced. Jessie had the left side replaced a few months ago and on Monday they completed her delicate cranium “jigsaw puzzle.”
Of course there remain the obvious dangers of infections and complications as she recovers from this intricate procedure but by all measures and signs the surgery was a wonderful success. Although much rehab remains Jessie has worked hard over the past several months to regain many of her motor skills. Her voice is slowly returning as she has been whispering phrases and “I love yous” to her parents for a couple of months now. She appears to recognize and recall what she is supposed to and therefore it appears that God is escorting Jessie a little further each day down the path of complete and wondrous recovery. This surgery will set her back temporarily as her brain recovers once again, yet we trust she will be back doing rehab very soon.
We fall on our knees in humble praise to Jehovah God as we have witnessed this precious young lady fight her way back with the hope of Jesus in her heart. Tenaciously holding the hand of Jesus, Jessie has been on an eleven month journey walking through a tunnel of darkness which treacherously passes through a great and glorious mountain of light. Jessie, we continue to bid you “God speed!”
Bill and Lisa (Jessie’s parents) thank you for your continued prayers and spiritual gestures during this journey.
