Message from John

OVERCOMING DISABILITIES

In Acts chapter three there is an exciting and challenging story. Peter and John heal a lame man by the temple gate called Beautiful. The name of the gate certainly describes the nature of the event that took place there in

this man’s life. Because of the power of Jesus this lame man left walking and happy after being carried there earlier that day by his friends. What a beautiful day for him.
I wonder if maybe come of us are crippled in different ways and need to know the power of Jesus to make us whole and happy.
We might be disabled by bad attitudes, a bad disposition, a bad outlook, negativism, faithlessness, a super critical nature, or defeatism. We might be vengeful or be an angry person. I believe Jesus can help us

overcome things that cripple us in our lives.

Below are some lessons from “Limping”
Injuries often happen suddenly. Likewise we can hurt others quickly with cutting remarks. Some injuries or

illness happen little by little. So also relationships can suffer from neglect and or constant little jibes or attacks.
A small injury affects the whole body. Similarly, little hurts can affect an entire church (I Cor. 12:26) or a persons whole attitude or outlook.
Healing takes time and proper treatment. Forgiving and healing wounds between people takes time and effort. (Mt. 5:23,24).
We really need God and others when we are injured. Others can help us physically and spiritually when we’re emotionally down and out. (Gal. 6:1,2)
We need to want to get well and do what we can to get well. Jesus asked the lame man in John 5:6 “Do you

want to get well?” Spiritually speaking so we want to overcome grudges, animosity, defeatism,

criticalness, etc? They can be convenient excuses for not doing what we need to do.
Interestingly, we can’t leap while we limp. To really be well and happy, we need to overcome. Jesus can help

us overcome hatred, vindictiveness, anger, despair, guilt or whatever else can cripple us. Let us leap for joy

at the healing power of Jesus for our hearts, minds and souls. Limp no more! The great physician has the answers!
A recovering cripple through the power of Jesus.

July 23rd, Thursday Harvest 7pm at the Church.

Phillip challenged us this week to spend 15 minutes alone each day, away from electronics, TV and people.

We were to use this time to be alone with our thoughts and to just think.
I found myself having a very hard time to find 15 minutes on Monday it was also very hard to spend 15 minutes alone. I am so used to listening to music all day long. I did try and find the time nearly every day. I enjoyed it so much. It was very nice to be alone with my thoughts and just relax.
I challenge you to continue to find time to spend by yourself. It is very important for us to find that time.

On August 3 there will be a very important meeting with the Elders, Deacons and Ministers from 5 – 7 PM

here at the building. Due to this meeting, there will be no evening service or small groups meeting so that men that are required to attend will be able to be there. The Elder Open House that was planned for the evening worship on August 3 has been moved to August 30 on Agape Sunday.

VBS is planned for August 2 and there will be a meeting of those that will be helping on Wednesday (July 23) after services in the Fellowship Hall.

"Soul Care," our Peer Counseling ministry is in place and ready to serve you. We have a group of men and women who would love to minister to you by listening in a non-judgmental and completely confidential way.

If you need to talk to someone about relationships, faith struggles or other matters please call the church

and set up an appointment through John Cooper. There is never any fee and you will be blessed if you call.

Hello Christian Sisters!  You are invited to come play Bunco on Tuesday, July 29, at 6:30 p.m., at the home of Lesa Brassette.  No experience necessary!  Come for some fun and fellowship.  Call Lesa RSVP (we have to have a head count ahead of time) and to get directions.
